Heroes.
[This is a message I wrote to one of my good friends after he had to deal with a roadblock in his dream.]
You can be someone’s hero. Seriously, you. It seems like it’s only super humans that fit the mold; people that never lose, that never fail. That’s not true. Losing is LIVING. That’s how you become great. Think about this. If you fail 7 out of every 10 times you come up to bat, guess what? You’re a hall of famer. Even the best lose more than they win. Some of my biggest heroes are “losers”. For example, I’ve always considered my beloved Knicks team’s of the 1990’s to be heroes to me. For those that don’t know, they NEVER won it all. What they did do was give everything they had, their all, every time they stepped on the court wearing MY CITY, representing me on their chest. They played hard. They played hard for me and that was enough for me to see these men as MY HEROES. It doesn’t matter if you succeed, it only matters that you gave it everything you had trying to. That’s what makes real heroes.
Always give you’re all because you never know, you may be someone’s hero too.
In fact, YOU ARE MY HERO.
This is what I think of you.
You are an amazing person. If you are reading this. I mean it. You are an absolutely amazing individual. If you are feeling down or self-conscious or sad, please remember that. The only reason you ever feel that way is actually BECAUSE you are awesome. In fact, you are so awesome that the world had to try and bring you down to even things out. It can be lonely and sad and scary when you are as awesome of a person as YOU really are. The world is full of normal, but you, YOU ARE AMAZING! I understand that can be lonely. It’s true, there’s less people to relate to when you are that great. Sometimes you might feel it’s enough to give up. It’s perfectly normal to feel that way. Life can get hard and there’s nothing wrong with getting tired and losing faith. Just don’t give up. If you feel like you have nothing left, I can only say one thing. I love you. Yeah, you. It’s because you’re amazing. You’re beautiful on the inside and out. No matter what you have done or haven’t done, what you’re ashamed of or wish was different, YOU are an amazing person. So don’t give up. Keep going. Find that little bit of love in this world that was reserved just for you. You are the only person amazing enough to really enjoy it! Keep pressing forward because one day you’ll find that PEACE and LOVE and JOY and things really WILL GET BETTER! I promise. Until that day comes though, just remember, you are awesome and I love you.
